Wan Hai Lines Launches New U.S. West Coast Service AP2 on May 20, Strengthening Direct Transpacific Services
2026-04-24
Recently, Wan Hai Lines announced that it will officially launch its new trans-Pacific direct express service, “AP2,” on May 20. This route is designed to provide a more efficient and reliable direct shipping service, establishing a fast link between major ports in North and East China and key gateway ports on the U.S. West Coast.
Precisely meeting the foreign trade demands of North and East China, the inaugural voyage sets sail on May 20.
The AP2 service represents another significant upgrade to Wan Hai Lines’ Asia–West Coast U.S. network. In recent years, trans-Pacific trade has remained robust, particularly driven by strong export demand from North and East China to the United States. Leveraging its decades of trans-Pacific operational expertise, Wan Hai has precisely aligned its services with the region’s core export hubs, launching direct point-to-point sailings.
According to the plan, the inaugural vessel on the AP2 service will be the “WAN HAI 513,” with voyage number E108. The port call sequence is Qingdao–Ningbo–Los Angeles–Auckland–Qingdao. This route operates as a direct express service, significantly reducing transshipment links and shortening transit time by approximately 3 to 5 days compared with traditional routes, thereby providing customers with a faster and more reliable cross-border logistics option.
Covering the U.S. inland network and providing end-to-end extended services.
The core advantages of the AP2 service lie in its extensive coverage, reliable sailing schedules, and efficient transportation. Leveraging the two major gateway ports of Los Angeles and Oakland, cargo can be efficiently transshipped to key U.S. inland cities such as Chicago, Columbus, Dallas, Kansas City, Memphis, and Phoenix. Wan Hai has established long-term partnerships with local trucking and rail operators, enabling end-to-end inland delivery services that help foreign trade enterprises streamline their North American trade routes and reduce overall logistics costs.
Expand the trans-Pacific product lineup to enhance competitiveness in the U.S. West Coast market.
The launch of the AP2 service will further diversify Wan Hai Lines’ trans-Pacific route portfolio and strengthen its competitive position in the West Coast U.S. market. For freight forwarders and exporting companies, the new service offers more cost-effective capacity options; particularly amid the current volatility in U.S.-bound rates, a reliable direct service helps customers mitigate the risk of transit delays. Wan Hai stated that it will continue to optimize its route network to provide customers with more diversified and flexible logistics solutions.
